The new dam across the rive kavery: Kavery and delta cities market shutdown and stir

Karnataka government decided to build new dams across the Kavery River at 2 locations. If the new dams build across the river, there may be a problem of availability of water in delta region. So, Delta farmers have been putting off the new dam plan.


Delta farmers have sent their invitation to many political parties for opposition to this new dam plan.  The DMK, DMDK, MDMK and many other parties are supporting their invitation.
Based on farmers announcement, today announced Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur Farmer's Association are full market shutdown protest against the build of new dams.

So, Thanjavur district, there none of the markets are opened, new bus station and shops are closed. Totally 200 locations had a market shutdown today.

Today Thiruvarur district also had a same market shutdown protest. Many places are closed such as bus station, Anna Salai, Netaji Road, Jubilee Market, South Street, vegetable market and shops. Private bus and other buses are not running but government bus is running today as usual. In three cities, many of the farmers has arrested for this issue.
