How to gain or increase body weight?

When there is increase in 500 kcal (calories) per day it increases the body weight by 0.5 kg per week. The reasons for underweight are prolonged time between meals, unbalanced nutritional diet, and abnormal physical activity. The BMI determines our whole body weight, 

BMI = mass (kg) / (height (m))2

When the BMI range is <18.5, it indicates underweight. If the BMI is 18.5 to 24.9, it indicates normal weight. If 25.0 to 29.9, it indicates overweight. You should maintain your BMI range from 18.5 to 24.9 for normal weight. If your BMI range is below this range you should take care of your health. If you are in underweight then you feel very tired, sickness, sudden nerve problem, infection etc.

  1. Consumption of food such as milk, cheese, butter, nuts, chicken,egg, meat, fruits, vegetables, fish and good fat twice in a day will helps you to gain weight within one month. You should drink more water which increases your immunity power. You should consume meals 4 or 5 times a day.

2.       You should exercise daily to improve your muscle and bone strength. When you make exercise daily you can gain weight.

3.       You should eat enough food which is not more than the average and not less than the normal. You have to schedule your food habit to gain your weight.


4.       You should eat 180 g of protein daily which will increase your body weight. You should consume more than 20% of the calories and fat

5.       You can make weight lifting, twists, curls etc to gain more calories than fat. You can do these exercises regularly to gain your muscle strength.

6.       Some people are consuming tablets and extra medicines to gain weight. It is not good for health. It can reduce your bone strength in future.

7.       Most of the people look like stick but they have more bone strength. They should not have enough immunity power. If any disease occurs it first affects the bone marrow. These people cannot tolerate any small diseases. So you should improve your bone strength by consuming calcium, vitamin, protein and mineral rich food.

8.       You can consume milk in the night will increase your body weight. You can also add one tea spoon of honey along with milk will increase the body weight slowly but it provides best result.

9.       You can consume milk along with almond paste and cashew paste will gain your body weight and improves your bone strength.

10.   Consumption of non-vegetarian food, good fat, snacks, bakery products, and fatty fish will gradually gain your weight.

11.   Some nutrition powders are available in the market which helps to gain weight. Make sure that the powder has protein and minerals in it. Consult your doctor before taking the nutrition powders.
